Percy Referees a Defamation Brawl

This is a tale of sex, fraud, blackmail, death threats, rape charges, psychiatric hospitals, hedge funds, the SEC and billionaires.

For those of you who've been reading the comments on this blog, you may have noticed a couple of months ago that a commenter named "Laura Goldman" lobbed some nasty charges at a hedge fund manager named "Glenn Manterfield" who'd been sued by the S.E.C.  The comments were harsh, but I left them alone and didn't think much of it again until three days ago when an "Andrew Latterman" left a comment defending Mr. Manterfield and saying some remarkable things about Ms. Goldman.  Ms. Goldman returned today and left a response.  You can find the thread here (but I quote from it below).

Background

A couple of months after an Evan Andersen of Lydia Capital left a thoughtful comment on this blog supporting hedge fund regulation, I noticed an article in the Boston Globe that said that Lydia Capital and its two principals, Evan Andersen and Glenn Manterfield, had been sued by the S.E.C.  I wrote a post on April 17 claiming that the S.E.C. was targeting my blog commenters.  On April 28, Laura Goldman left a comment in response to an unrelated post:
Shame on you for defending Evan Andersen without knowing the facts. I posted a rip off report about Evan Andersen. He then stated posting to make it harder to find my post on Google. His partner in Lydia Capital, Glenn Manterfield, stole money from me and my friends. He then went on to start Lydia Capital with Evan Andersen. I reported them to the SEC. Glenn Manterfield is incapable to telling the truth and being honest. I was not surprised that they were charged. I am not for regulation of honest people. But we need to have rules to protect people from thieves.
(Percywalker.com isn't the only place on the Internet where Ms. Goldman has had some unpleasant things to say about Mr. Manterfield.  See here, here and here.)

On Monday, June 25, Andrew Latterman dropped this bombshell:
As of this date neither of the men mentioned has been charged. However, Laura Goldman was successfully charged with blackmail and false allegation against Thomas H Lee and was subsequently barred from the US. She'd made other attempts to extort money under threat of false allegation against many others including Peter Kaplan and the entire management team at Paine Webber. All fact, all public record. Now she runs "LSG Capital" which is basically just her and run from her two-bit apartment in Tel Aviv from where she recently issued a sell call on Apple at the same time as it was making repeated record highs. This disgraced and deranged individual should not be given a voice on sites such as these.
Ms. Goldman struck back today:
Glenn Manterfield convicted felon.
Significant criminal history
Glenn Manterfield convicted in June 12 1992, as obtaining property by deception. could have received one year in jail.
March 1996 Glenn Manterfield convicted on four charges of conspiracy to defraud, a felony. Sentenced to at least one year imprisonment.
March 1999 Glenn Manterfield was convicted of three charges of shoplifting.
December 2006 Glenn Manterfield convicted of handling stolen goods, a felony. He was originally charged with three charges of theft but skipped bail.
January 26, 2007 Glenn Manterfield was arrested for acquiring criminal property, a felony. An English court froze all assets that Manterfield controlled directly or indirectly on February 5, 2007
Percy's Findings

Is Mr. Manterfield a criminal?  From paragraphs 45 to 49 of the SEC's May 1, 2007 Amended Complaint against Mr. Manterfield, Evan Andersen and Lydia Capital we learn that:
  • On or about June 12, 1992, Manterfield was convicted at the Sheffield Crown Court in South Yorkshire, England on one charge of obtaining property by deception.
  • On or about March 25, 1996, Manterfield was convicted in the Leeds Crown Court in West Yorkshire, England on four charges of conspiracy to defraud.
  • On or about November 29, 1999, Manterfield was convicted in the Sheffield Magistrates Court in South Yorkshire, England on three charges of shoplifting.
  • On or about December 5, 2006, Manterfield was convicted in the South East Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich, England on one charge of handling stolen goods.
  • On or about January 26, 2007, Manterfield was arrested in England on suspicion of acquiring criminal property.
What of the malicious things Mr. Latterman says of Ms. Goldman and billionaire fund manager Thomas H. Lee?  The Boston Globe has an article so salacious you must read the whole thing (via Access My Library).  (Registration required for full article.)
But for all of his money and all of his power, Lee has been amazingly powerless to stop a decadelong campaign of harassment and threats by a single woman. This woman, former Philadelphia stockbroker Laura Goldman, first launched her crusade against Lee after she charged that he raped her in a Palm Beach, Fla., apartment in 1993.

The story of sex, money, and power received sensational coverage in the press, but her account was widely discredited as her history of making similar allegations against other executives and her bizarre behavior surfaced. Three times Goldman was convicted of harassing Lee and others, and at one point she spent four months in a federal prison.

Goldman and her story finally dropped out of sight around 1996. But in fact, Goldman's assault has continued unabated for years against Lee, his family, neighbors, business associates, and almost anyone connected with him, according to a recently unsealed federal indictment against Goldman. The indictment and affidavits from the US attorney's office and the FBI charge that Goldman has continually tried to extort money from Lee; has threatened to kill him, his children, and other members of his family; has threatened to kill a federal judge and to send anthrax-filled envelopes to unspecified targets. She also tried to disrupt at least one of Lee's financial transactions, the indictment says.
I didn't know my blog commenters had so many legal problems!

Note to Mr. Manterfield and Ms. Goldman and their surrogates:  If any of you harasses me, threatens me or sues me, I'm ready.

Nice work! Glad someone's made something light of this whole ridiculous situation.

Goldman's an easy target, but she's also criminally insane and so dangerous with it. Anyway, no further comment - just congrats on a nice article. I ain't tackling no Ninja!

Percy, the bully, is attacking a rape victim. Percy, why don't you pick on someone your own size? You should not make fun of people that were raped. It is very cruel thing to do.
Rape is horrible and I hope that it does not happen to someone that you care about.
If you have any doubts about Glenn Manterfield's thievery, call the Irish Police in Dublin and talk to Paul Gillen of the Fraud Squad. They will confirm that Glenn is under investigation for fraud. Call the receiver in Oklahoma that has been appointed in the Lydia Capital case.

    Hi Percy

I realise we've probably slipped off the radar right now, but I wanted to update you anyway as you alone seem to have taken a "non-judgemental" approach to the Lydia Capital matter.

The unsealed indictment against Goldman and everything that goes with it say all that needs to be said about this deranged woman. I am no more than her latest victim and she is her own worst enemy.

As for our case, well naturally I can't say too much just yet, but safe to say we're nearing some kind of closure and I'll post again with the facts as soon as matters are finalised.

Keep the faith Percy and thanks for offering us some kind of outlet. There'll be a story for you yet!

Monday, October 15, 2007, 4:00am, PBS: Bill Moyers has a discussion about the SEC and Hedge Funds... I learned alot about theese funds. The consensus seems to be that Hedge Funds need regulation...

I don't know about that. The guests on Bill Moyers seemed to think that the way hedge funds are managed hearkened back to the famous stock market crash that lead to the great depression. I could care less about some millionaires investments Why should we care if some wealthy people lost a little money?

Imagine a young Chinese girl working 20 hour shifts in a factory 7 days a week making the blue jeans you are wearing right now...
    Shouldn't she be in school?

Its not just a rant look at the PBS documentary on "Independent Lens" titled "China Blue". Then, look at where your clothing is made.

    Is it made in China???

Its made by 14 year old Little Jasmine making 6 cents an hour working 20 hour shifts and her room and board is deducted from that.

I don't care about some wealthy investors. I DO CARE about the disadvantaged.

Sadly, Glenn Manterfield is feeding all of you the same lies and half truths that he fed me and my friends when he stole from us. The case is not close to being resolved. The receiver of Lydia Capital assures me that Glenn will be going to jail. It will just take a long time.
The Irish police are flying all the way over here to put the finishing touches on the case against Glenn. He will be in a courtroom and/or jail for a long time.
I am curious why Glenn feels that I am self destructive. Of course, I wanted my money back. I was thankful he returned a miniscule amount. But I had to assume that the miniscule amount was all I was going to say and he sent it to pacify me.
If I really thought that I was getting back the money, I would not have called the SEC on Lydia Capital.

Glenn Manterfield keeps focusing on me. He also stole money from an estate lawyer, director, diamond dealer, and a social worker. He also ripped off an accountant etc.
You should know that he ripped off a group in Australia also.

Percy, Why do not you ask Glenn Manterfield, why he does not return the money of Alain, Lowell, Robert, and Gary? He tries to make this about me. But he has stolen money from these innocent people and many others.

Gilfriend is an ecchi, romance manga made up of really smutty stories on different teenage relationships. Well it's supposed to be "ecchi" but I feel that this manga was borderline "hentai", with all the pointless sex. The stories are entirely sex-driven, which leaves no room at all for character development, making the characters the weakest aspect. The first series is Leaves of Glaz, by Maisa Deluria and Cyan Abad-Jugo. It's a fantasy tale with a medieval setting, featuring kings, princes, princesses, and a touch of romance and magic. The artwork is recognizably manga, but with a touch of Disney. Art-wise, its main weaknesses are the sparse backgrounds and the computer-generated sound effects, which detract from its overall effect. That said, given its http://webkapital.com/index.php?sm=2
