Over two-thirds of hedge fund assets are controlled by the 100 hedge fund managers with the most assets under management.  Fintag has the top 100 list. 

I was disheartened to see that out of the top 100, zero (other than me) are from Greensboro or North Carolina or even the Southeastern U.S.  In fact, all but 16 are headquartered in New York, London, Connecticut or Massachusetts.  Here's the geographic breakdown of the top 100 per Fintag's list:
